Jaylin will be graduating from May River High School and will be attending the College of Charleston to major in Excercise Science with plans to become a Pediatric Occupational Therapist.
What inspired you to choose this path?
I’ve always loved working with kids in all capacities but I especially have a heart for kids that struggle physically, developmentally, and emotionally. Occupational Therapy gives me the opportunity to work directly with children and help them.
Have you always lived here?
I’m originally from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania but I moved to South Carolina 6 years ago. My favorite part about living here is having nice weather and a beach close by.
Tell us a little bit about you and your family
I have 2 younger brothers, Zarek age 14 and Zayne age 10 and I live with my mom and dad and our beautiful Goldendoodle, Addie in Bluffton, SC. I attended May River High School and I was on the sideline & competitive cheer team all 4 years. I was a member of BETA Club and National Honor Society.

Some of my favorite restaurants are The Cottage, Amigos and Okko.
If you could safely travel anywhere in the world right now, where would it be and why?

My current favorite show would have to be Outerbanks on Netflix and my favorite movie would have to be Disney’s Beauty and the Beast
What’s the best advice you ever received from a teacher? Who was the teacher?
The best advice I have ever received from a teacher would be to “never let my focus get too big, a narrow focus can lead to big accomplishments”. My ACT prep teacher and BETA Club leader, Mrs. St. Amant told me this.
What is your go-to band/artist when you can’t decide what to listen to?
My go-to music would be country, especially Kane Brown or Sam Hunt.
What is your favorite thing or something unique about our community?
One thing I love about our community is how friendly the community is and how willing they are to come together to help others in their time of need.
Where do you see yourself in 5 to 10 years?
I see myself in school getting or finishing up my PhD and hopefully finding a job in Occupational Therapy.
